How good is the Hamdard study circle for IAS preparation? I know its free but is it comparable to other privately run institutes?
Being student of Hamdard Study Circle (HSC) I felt it my responsibility to answer this question because top voted answer seemed to be misleading . No doubt one has to pay 6000 per month but it is small amount when one considers facilities provided by institution which include: Single room. 9:00 AM to 1:00 AM access to library cum reading room which is completely air conditioned and having competitive environment (HEAVEN!!! especially if you have joined any library in Karol Bagh). Test series for prelims and mains. Interview guidance which can be joined by any candidates qualifying for mains is one of the most sought after. 24*7 WIFI facility. Good quality food. Guest lectures on few topics. Gym. So i think considering these it won’t be genuine on part of any student to complain about fee. Other than this institution has ample space for recreational activities which includes massive playgrounds (useful especially if u do not want to gain weight during preparations ;). Now coming to main point how good is this institution when it comes to UPSC preparation. About which I think ,that is the best part of the institution. One can get admitted to the institution only after qualifying entrance examination followed by interview . Once you are here you are among some of the potential aspirants especially those who have earlier made it into the list (preparing for rank improvement ) or up-to the interview stage. So without doubt you get requisite environment for preparation which includes good guidance , group discussions in current affairs ,optional subjects , and mains answer writing, motivation to go on . I guess that is what an aspirant needs !! All other things matter only when you have time for that which surely u don’t
