Paper-I

General Studies-I

Current events of national and international importance
Contemporary happenings on National and International levels are extremely noteworthy topics in any competitive examination. so in UPPCS also. aspirants are expected to know about them.
History of India and the Indian National Movement
In History, the candidate should have a wide knowledge of ancient Indian history and social, economic and political aspects of Indian History. In the Indian National Movement, the candidates are expected to have a synoptic view of the nature and character of the freedom movement, the development of nationalism and the achievement of independence.
India and World Geography
Candidate should have an extended understanding of the Physical, Social, and Economic Geography of India and the World.
In World Geography only a general understanding of the subject will be expected. Questions on the Geography of India will relate to the Physical, Social & Economic Geography of India.
Indian Polity and Governance
In Indian Polity and governance candidates are expected to know everything about the Indian constitution, the Political System of India from its roots, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues and other issues related to Indian polity and governance.
Questions will test the learning of the candidate on the country’s political system from basic to advanced.
Economic and Social Development

  3. Geometry:- (i) Constructions and theorems regarding triangle, rectangle, square, trapezium and circles, their perimeter and area. (ii) Volume and surface area of sphere, right circular cylinder, right circular Cone and Cube.
  4. Statistics:- Collection of data, Classification of data, frequency, frequency distribution, tabulation, cumulative frequency. Representation of data – Bar diagram, Pie chart, histogram, frequency polygon, cumulative frequency curves (ogives), Measures of Central tendency: Arithmetic Mean, Median and Mode.

Essay
The essay question paper contains a total of three sections. Candidates have to choose one topic from each section and they have to write an essay of 700 words limit on each topic. Topics of the essay will be based on the below-given spheres:

  2.  Section B – (1) Science, Environment and Technology (2) Economic Sphere (3) Agriculture, Industry and Trade.

  1.  The history of Indian Culture will cover the salient aspects of Art Forms, literature and Architecture from ancient to modern periods.
  2. Modern Indian history (from A.D.1757 to A.D. 1947): Important events, characters and issues, etc.
  3.  The Freedom Struggle- its various stages and important contributors and their contributions from different regions of the country.
  4.  Post-independence consolidation and reorganization within the country (till 1965A.D.).
  5. World History– will include events from the 18th century to the middle of the 20th century such as the French Revolution of 1789, the Industrial Revolution, the World Wars, redraw of national boundaries, Socialism, Nazism, Fascism, etc. their forms and effects on the society
